A police detective investigating a homicide is currently in two minds regarding what image the blood stains on the victim’s sheets resemble.
At first he saw a butterfly. According to some psychologists, this would indicate that he is in touch with nature and is also quite sensitive. The detective in question disagreed with these findings which he had come across following a quick google search, and looked at the splatter again.
On second viewing, he could see two people kissing. Following another search, he found that this means he’s either pervasive or romantic. Seeing as he sees himself as neither, he continued searching for a new image.
Sadly, this was to no avail. Here he was caught between deciding whether he was in touch with nature, which isn’t true, or romantic, which also is not true.
As his partner searched for clues, interrogated witnesses, put pins on a map and tied them to each other with yarn, and cut out relevant newspaper clippings, the head detective observed photos of the stain. The rest of the department have now been watching him continuously as he appears deep in thought, quite possibly one epiphany from blowing the case wide open.
One observer who had quite clearly misread the situation said, “he’s obviously looking for a stabbing motion that would have made the stain, and when he finds out, it’s gonna blow all our minds.” Another, who had been paying slightly more attention said, “I don’t know. He said something about a butterfly.”
It is unclear how long the detective will take. Considering he has yet to solve the case that brought about said blood-blot image, it remains to be seen which mystery will take precedence.
Meanwhile, the entire station awaits with bated breath as to what conclusion he arrives, and whether or not that conclusion is a butterfly which it so obviously is.
