Progress! This nation’s next dictator is a woman!

Yay?

Everyone rejoice as another nation has made a bold step into the 21st century.

For years, the nation known formally as the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has been ruled by the patriarch of a family of despots. This has made their choice of name somewhat ironic.

Korea? Yes. Republic? Uh. People’s? Ha. Democratic? Nope.

There has been a sickening, enforced hero-worship of men benefitting from nepotism. That is soon to be over. Finally, it is a woman that will be benefitting from that nepotism!

From the beginning of time – which is 1912 in North Korea – there has been rampant abuses in human rights perpetuated by angry men with slick-backed hair. No more. Now, for the first time in their modern history, a woman will be at the helm.

Everything changes now. Not fundamentally of course, that’d be preposterous. There is nothing to suggest any wholesale changes with a passing of the torch to a different family member. BUT. She is a woman.

Defectors from the country can have an inkling of pride. Yes, it is a totalitarian regime and likely to remain so, but when it comes to leadership, there is no glass ceiling for women! (As long as you happen to be a blood relative of those in charge.)

One such defector said, “no, there is no reason to believe the oppression will end, however, it is so refreshing to know that the role of oppressor does not see gender.”
