We used our time machine to ask Julius Caesar what he thought about fake friends and he said something in Latin.

When a close acquaintance who happened to be in the possession of a time machine was metaphorically stabbed in the back, it was immediately clear whose take on the matter was needed. A man who was literally stabbed in the back; Roman Emperor – Julius Caesar!

Using our time machine which, by the way, we have, we travelled back to the glorious days of the Roman Empire. Upon finding the man, the myth, the legend, the human knife-holder; Julius Caesar, we spared no time in asking what opinion this mighty ruler held on this perennial scourge.

And what he said astounded us.

The words he spoke had a ring of true wisdom around them. An aura of knowledge. Words that only a great leader could have spoken. Probably. It was in Latin. A language we do not speak.

Using a recording device which we carried along with us we were able to at least have the exact words he said even if we did not understand them.

stultus me solum relinquatis:

Wow. Powerful stuff. Probably. We don’t speak a word of Latin.

Though it did become clear later on that he never truly dealt with his backstabbing. All he did was say ‘Oh My God, you too Brutus? Well I guess this is it for old J-Cease. Peace’.

Maybe he claimed that he was not an expert on the subject as we happened to meet him before that famous betrayal.

Was what we said a warning? Have we changed the course of history?

One can dream.

Edit: We have been informed by multiple Latinographers or whatever they are called that Mr. Caesar said, “Stupid, Leave Me Alone”.
