Dog Under a Lot of Pressure to Provide Joy in Family’s Life.

A local Labrador named Dixie has expressed her sheer panic at being the sole source of happiness in her miserable family’s life. The family – whose name was withheld by the canine – appear to be a mix of morose and needy individuals, making Dixie’s task of enriching their lives both necessary and difficult.

As per Dixie, both sons’ only forays into the outside world stem from her insistence on going for walks. Even this comes at a great personal cost to Dixie. In an attempt to coerce her brothers (as the matriarch of the family insists on calling their relationship) into this mild excursion, she has had to eat and drink more than she’d like so as to make it appear as if she needed the walk in order to, *ahem*, relieve herself. And in public too!

But that shame pales in comparison to the degradation she has had to undergo by the remaining family members. The aforementioned matriarch has taken to referring to her as ‘Dixie-poo’. An awful bastardization of the name that was bestowed upon her. Yet Dixie, ever the noble being, responds in kind to that hideous nickname, even providing gleeful mini-jumps when she hears it sung in a sing-song manner. Of course she does hope that this positive reinforcement does not lead to this truly unnatural moniker being engraved onto her fairly regal collar, but she does fully comprehend the risk.

With the holiday season coming to a close and with new years’ resolutions being instantly broken, Dixie has found herself having to work overtime.

Given the nature of this dopey and unhappy family, the pressure of being the one glimmer of hope in their lives has been rather stressful for the dog. Being a bundle of joy isn’t quite what it’s cracked up to be after all.

Following a long, hard day of being the one good thing in their lives, she has just an hour or so to relax. Though to be fair, that’s about 7 hours in dog-time so maybe we’re going a bit too easy on her.
