Coronavirus warning to not touch face met with stunning realization that face is currently resting on hand.

Betrayed by your own five-fingered devices! BETRAYED!

Much like Former Roman Emperor & current overused reference; Julius Caesar, many civilians were stabbed in the back by their right-hand men. In this case, statistically; their right hand.

You may know your hand as merely a tool you use in order to pick things up, throw things, type blog posts, squeeze stress-balls, cook, and probably two or maybe even more things. But in a shocking turn of events, a warning was issued stating that our hands, the hands with which we semi-regularly attempt a push-up were revealed to be a source of danger to our own well-being.

The coronavirus has spread to every corner of the globe. Naturally, panic is as rife as it was during the heydays of Ebola and SARS. Those who lived through those diseases are quick to assure others that we as a society overcame those pandemics, clearly having forgotten that plenty of human beings actually died. As one might expect, the reactions have ranged from hypochondriac-esque to a level of lax that can be summarized with the one question; “how have you not already died??”

With regards to the latter, numerous PSAs have allowed us to draw the conclusion that far too many people were not already washing their hands. Ironically somehow it is far safer to be shaking people’s hands presently now that everyone is aware of possibly spreading an infectious illness.

One of the precautions listed was to avoid touching one’s face. A warning that was read by many as they rested their tired head on their seemingly trustworthy hand. We need our hands. Life is quite difficult without them. Now they bring difficulty themselves? Have we taken them for granted for too long?

Regardless, to many faces in close proximity to a hand it came as quite the surprise.

It is hard to determine just how often a face needed a hand prior to the warning but it now seems impossible to go a few seconds without scratching a chin or rubbing an ear or placing your palm on your forehead to check for a fever.
